MINISTRIES Acolytes
- An acolyte assists in the
church service.
Crucifer, torchbearers and Eucharistic ministers. Acolytes must
be in third grade or older and may include adults.
Adult Forum – Sunday morning adult education begins in the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m. January – May and September – December. Altar Guild – A group of dedicated individuals that prepares the church and chapel for worship at the Eucharist, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies. Altar Flowers – You are invited to glorify God by beautifying His altar with flowers. Select a Sunday of your choice for memorials, in thanksgiving or special occasions ($30.00 each arrangement) Sign up sheet in Fellowship Hall or call church office. Bible Seminar – Historical and theological study of the Bible. Inquire at the church office. Birthday & Anniversary Offering – Weekly offerings distributed annually to youth ministries. Blessing of the Animals on St. Francis Day – From horses to snakes, parishioners bring their pets to a special outside service to receive a blessing. Book Club a book study club - meets every Wednesday, at noon in the Fellowship Hall. Buildings & Grounds – Repairs and maintenance for physical facility. Camperships – Provides financial support for youth at Chapel Rock, Prescott Arizona. Chalice Bearers – Assist with administration of Communion at worship Choir – provides the music ministry at the Eucharist, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies. Contact Choir Director for further information. Daughters of the King – An organization for women in the Episcopal Church dedicated to prayer and service. Daughters of the King meet weekly on Thursdays in the Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Daughters of the King - Discernment Committee – The Diaconal Discernment Committee is a joint committee of the vestry to help the aspirant discern the nature of his/her call to ministry. Episcopal Church Women – Open to all women parishioners. The ECW women meet the second Tuesday of each month with a luncheon and meeting. Yearly activities include: Christmas Bazaar, Huge In-Door Spring Yard Sale, Spring Luncheon, Christmas Luncheon to name a few. Eucharist Visitors – Deliver Eucharist to homebound and sick. Finance & Budget – The treasurer and finance committee work on accounting, income, budget and investments. Food Ministry – In conjunction with the local CAP office, food and non-food items are donated each Sunday by the parishioners. Frankincense & Myrrh – Our very own store located in the Fellowship Hall. Religious books, gift and devotional items can be found. Greeters – At St. Albans we have a strong feeling of “Family” and make sure all people attending for the first time are made welcome by our Greeters. All visitors are given a handmade Cross to wear and receive an official St. Albans coffee mug at coffee hour immediately following the service. Godly Play – Godly Play is a method of telling Bible Stories to Children, a Sunday education program for elementary youth. Godly Play meets downstairs during the Sunday Service. Healing Service – God does marvelous things for people. The healing service is every Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. with Holy Eucharist. Hospitality Hosts – We encourage you to sign up to bring food items (cookies, crackers and cheese) following our 10:00 a.m. service. (9:00 a.m. during June-August) Lectors – assist in the worship service by reading the lessons and prayers of the people. Library – We have a library with many books and publications dealing with our Christian journey. Memorial Fund - Our primary fund for donations in honor or in memory of someone special. Memorial Garden – Historically, many Episcopalians have chosen to be buried near their church. St. Albans Memorial Garden has established the walled area adjacent to the church in which cremated ashes of those who have departed may be interred and honored with a plaque. Ashes can also be buried in the ground. Men’s Club – Meetings are held the Second and Fourth Tuesday of each month starting at 7:00 a.m. with Morning Prayer Service followed by breakfast. The Messenger – The Messenger is the newsletter of the parish. It is a monthly publication to inform all our parish family about worship, outreach and social activities of the parish. Nametags – Wearing nametags helps us to know each other better. If you need a nametag or your tag is in need of replacement or repair, call the church office. Outreach & Mission - Our Outreach committee oversees and coordinates the ministry outside the parish family. Potluck Dinners – Potluck dinners are held on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 5:45 p.m. followed by a program concluding at 7:00 p.m. Public Relations Committee – Contact if you have a St. Albans event you would like mentioned in our local newspaper. Quilters – Quilters meet weekly on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Rector’s Discretionary Fund – It is the rector’s discretion to grant money for parish and community emergency needs. Scholarships – Established in memory of Harry and Ginny Combs to provide financial college aid to St. Alban High School Seniors. Seder Supper – A Passover Supper observed during Holy Week. Come gather at the table to give thanks to God for deliverance and redemption. Sound Systems – Electronic assistance for worship and group gatherings. Stephen Ministries – A complete system for training and organizing lay people to provide one-to-one Christian care to hurting people. Training for Stephen Ministries is scheduled weekly Wednesdays 8:45 a.m. to noon. Stewardship – Develops programs for year-round financial giving. Ushers – Individuals are welcome to assist during service each Sunday.
